BIOGRAPHY OF IYALODE, CHIEF ABUSAFE MOFOYEKE ADEBISI ABEO

The late Iyalode Chief Abusatu Mofoyeke Adebisi Abeo was born in the year 1875 at Gbaero Compound, Oja Oba, Ibadan. Her father’s name was Adebiyi Ajaba while her mother’s name was Ibiteju Solademi from Solademi Compound Oranyan Ibadan. Madam Adebisi Mofoyeke Abeo was the first born of her father out of four children, her junior brothers are Lawani Adebiyi Agbola Adebiyi and Olasupo Adebiyi. Chief Adebisi Abeo was married to Pa Adeyemi and blessed with three children. They are Mr. Gbadamosi Akande Adeyemi, Mrs. Odunola Oluwonran – Nee Folaniyan and Osuolale Olaniyan. She joined her mother Mama Ibiteju Adebiyi and her grandmother Mama Fanike Solademi in Business of fowl selling. Her grandmother Mama Fanike was a great Ibadan warrior that brought fowl from warfront into Ibadanland and established many fowl markets, among which are: Oja Oba, Oje, Agugu, Oranmiyan and Dugbe. Madam Fanike won many battles for Ibadanland during the period of Baale Olugbode and was instated as Otun Iyalode of Ibadanland by Baale Fijabi. After the death of Madam Fanike, her immediate daughter Madam Ibiteju was given the honour to continue with the title but because of old age she transferred it to her daughter Madam Adebisi Abeo. In the year 1956, Madam Adebisi Abeo was installed as Otun Iyalode of Ibadanland by Baale Fijabi. In 1961, she was installed as Iyalode of Ibadanland by Oba Theophilous Akinyele the Olubadan of Ibadanland. She worked for the progress of Ibadanland. She was a strong politician. A member of Action Group in early 60s. She died after involving in serious accident along Ibadan-Ife Road in company of Oba Kobiomi on 16th December, 1973.
